The Dara Knot comes from the Irish word “Doire” meaning oak grove. The design of the Dara knot represents the roots of the oak tree. In the Celtic tradition the Oak tree was a powerful symbol representing strength, wisdom, resilience and rootedness.
The Dara knot is essentially a circle, which is deeply symbolic in Celtic spirituality. Having no beginning or end the Dara knot reflects the Celtic theme of eternity and the continuous cycle of life.
The Dara knot is meaningful to me not just for the wonderful attributes assigned to the design, or because of the beauty and strength of the Oak tree. Dara is the Irish language (gaeilge) translation of my birth name Oaks/Oakes, as such it has a particular resonance for me. It was this synchronicity that made it the perfect logo for the An Turas vision.
