The Meaning of An Turas

An Turas, is a long-held dream of mine to provide a place of retreat in the West of Ireland for those who are called to come to the edge, to journey to the sacred wilderness, a pilgrimage to the inner recess of their own wise heart.

In Celtic spirituality all coastal places, especially islands are seen as ‘edge’ places where the mystical and material meet. Also known as thin places, they are thresholds or gateways where we can more easily access the divine light within the landscape of our own souls. The heart-rending beauty of the outer landscape acts as a medium for creative and spiritual opening.
